With tired minds, we slept T he sun loomed high and bright on the horizon, illuminating the tops of the first digimon shelters, clustering what was designated as the town center square of the Village of Origins. Their makeshift houses were crude and rudimentary, as one could only do so much with the skills of a toddler and the body of a floating head. Some of the others had even cruder limbs, but most were merely disembodied eyes and mouths, all happy expressions and ceaseless hopeful chatter. Their jubilee was the bubbling songbird melody of the morning, their uplifted moods the first sunlight warmth of an endearing winter. The Digital World was only days old in some of their minds, but in others many centuries, their essences having been frozen in the cryostasis located in the black hole of a computer bit's binary zero. Fluffles was among the new eggs having been spawned here, having hatched only minutes ago. He found himself covered in an icky-sticky that could only be described as eggshell goop, pearly porcelain white fragments beneath him. He tottered to a water puddle as best his new body would allow and joined several other digimon admiring their newfound reflections. He wasn't sure what to expect, having only been hatched and all, so he took on his primitive body with acceptance. No more than a steel computer mouse with buggy dragonfly eyes and Harry Potter ears, he shone, and his tail sparked. After discovering this, he spent some time acquainting himself with this existence. "Hello", he told the nearest thing he could find, looking up at a large tree laden with RAM stick fruit. "Hello,", he tried again to a bush growing in its shade, in bloom with growing lithium batteries.

Akuia had hatched a few days prior. The experience had been far from forgettable. Every time she closed her eyes she feared waking up again in the cramped confines of an egg right before it was ready to crack. It was a surprisingly traumatic experience, the whole process of being born. The only positive to it was the first glimpse of the world around you that was made all the more breathtaking by the fact you'd never seen anything other than darkness.
Having recently hatched she'd managed to explore a little outside of the place she'd been hatched, but this was still where she came to rest. Her small wings fluttered behind her as she hopped around looking for something to eat or someone interesting to interact with. She'd encountered a handful of digimon that had offered more than a confusing hello or repetition like a broken record. Some survived the trauma of birth and some just never were quite right after it.
Hopping around she became distracted briefly by a glimpse of her reflection in the water, the ever vain creature that she was. The brief distraction was enough to cause her to trip up and tumble into a bush. She rolled through it and collided with whatever digimon it was that was on the other side.
"S-sorry!" She stammered embarrassed by her monumental failure. She couldn't even begin to understand how something without legs could trip so easily. They were the one part of this whole existence thing that truly stumped her. Hopping was a good mode of transportation and yet it still managed to get tricky here and there even if she had no legs to get tangled into anything. She'd seen a few digimon with legs and she wasn't sure if they walked better than her or not, but she was certain they'd to manage this kind of stumbling.
Righting herself and fluttering her wings in an attempt to test if she'd harmed herself, she finally took in her newfound companion. She'd never seen anything like it. It was so sleek, so strange, metallic. She couldn't help herself when she bounced around him trying to figure out just exactly what he was. To some it would be rude, but in her world it was just genuine curiosity. "What are you!?" She finally exclaimed unable to contain herself. This was a puzzle she just couldn't piece together quite yet. He looked like a digimon, but he didn't look like he could be a living digimon. It made no sense to her, but then again little did make sense in this newly created world. They'd all hatched from eggs and yet there had been so few caretakers. So few adults had been present. She was still wondering how they were going to learn to survive, but she tried not to dwell on that possibly depressing idea. Instead she wanted to focus on her latest little toy of interest.
As she hopped around him she finally took a moment for manners. "I'm Akui by the way! You are?" She offered with a surprising bit of cheerfulness.

Unknown to the collective mass of calculations and algorithms, there was indeed a world beyond the horizon. Where the creature had thought itself alone amidst grand amounts of nothing, it was actually filling it's own personal space to the brim - so brittle against any exterior invention. Be it lack of luck or care, the small Kiimon-to-be had just never received any sensation of cold or warm, noisy or silent. His egg was placed so that nothing disturbed his internal growth or depression.
Imagine then, as the whole of your universe cracks up and something new breaks in. Light. Heat. At first the little one could but wonder if this was to be the death of his existence, instead of his birth. The crack was followed by another, and a third. With no influence the little had not learnt about good yet. His life was all he currently had and now it seemed that too would be taken from him. Tears welled up in his eyes. He could not explain, did not have the understanding or the words to reason why. His existence which had seemed so long, now felt so brief. The program cried. Its want for life and for something that could only be explained as 'happiness' were to be its final thoughts.
"Waaaaaah-bwubwubwu"
The first piece of the shell broke off.
Light, heat and the world entered his small encove, and his life was suddenly never to be the same again. "Waaaah waaaaah waaaaah". The birthed child couldn't stop his tears or his crying. Why was he crying? It no longer correlated to any emotion, yet it spoke to all he knew.
What is this?
What am I?
I want... 01101000 01100001 01110000 01110000 01111001
happy... I want happy. he righted himself.
Many were in his surroundings and could see his arrival into this world. How soon would he be to discover interaction with others?

New digimon were all his eyes could behold in this strange new life, so one falling over - probably due to lack of limbs - seemed only natural. Fluffles grinned and chuckled for the sake of slapstick comedy, and then promptly put it out of his mind.
Only when the digimon popped up on his radar again did he take notice. "Why, I'm a digimon!", he explained to the tune of the broken record. They were all digimon.
"Hi Akui-mon!", the name seemed improper for a digimon, as all digimon had the monster suffix. And then he broke his own rule by naming himself. "I'm Fluffles!", he grinned, all bubbly enthusiasm for the attention afforded to him.
A wailing disrupted his thoughts. He attempted to grab Akui by one of his wings in hopes of dragging the digimon with him to investigate.
"There, there, little guy, why are you crying like a baby?", he asked Felix. Of course, the digimon was a baby, so his words lacked tact. "He just hatched!", he made a brilliant discovery by looking at the eggshell that surrounded the digimon.

His crying slowly growing to a whimper and some sniffles, before he could manage answering this digimon: "What is 'hatched'?" What was anything really? It was certainly not like anything he'd known before.
The remains of his egg dissipated into pure data, the digimon looking up at what he might later remember as some kind of shiny rodent. His sniffling becoming more absent with each moment, the eyes of the small blob wavered to the one accompanying Mr. steel mouse. Where the prior had some small sticking-outs on his body, this one had some big sticking outs. Felix had no idea what it meant, but found himself interested in finding out just what and why digimon where different.
"What are you?" the question being for them both.

"Fluffles?" Akui tilted her head in mild confusion at the name. She had never heard a name like it. Being of the mindset a name that resonated power was far better than a name that reminded one of cuddles and fluffy things that weren't in the slightest dangerous. Taking in the digimon's enthusiasm she attempted to play along offering a generous smile and a nod. "Fluffles it is!"
That generous smile was quickly replaced by a yelp of surprise when Fluffles grabbed her by the wings. "What're you doing?!" She demanded in a high pitched and not so happy voice. There were many ways to get on her bad side, grabbing her by her wings was such a way. It wasn't exactly the nicest feeling to be tugged at like some doll ready for play. Of course she couldn't put up much fight. She hadn't expected it and was knocked off balance by it. Hopping to keep along with the metallic rodent she did her best not to tug free and strike him.
When they reached the crying digimon she tore away from Fluffles tired of being handled. Akui had encountered many different types of freshly hatched digimon, but these two were by far the strangest individuals she'd come in contact with. Fluffles was also the first to grab her by her wings, something she would never forget or think fondly of.
"Digimon. I'm a Puttimon, Akui." The excitement she offered Fluffles was far from present. It was more of a, I'll humor you for now, sort of tone. "And what are you?

Akui seemed to put up some resistance and after some tugging in this manner, clouted him atop the head. He winced, froze, and considered crying himself. The tears began to well. But then he remembered the other digimon and the switch was flipped back to energetic and nauseatingly bubbly. He wasn't too intent on crying anyways, it was more of a knee-jerk reaction. When they reached their destination, Akui escaped. He marveled at his empty paws, er, limbs, er mouth... but he didn't have any of those things, so he simply gaped for a moment or two, before returning his easily distractible attention to the hatchling.
Akui beat him to answering the questions, but he wouldn't be deterred from getting the last word. "Hatched is you! Ahahaha!", he burst into giggles as if Felix was the funniest digimon in existence, and in Fluffles world, it was certainly true. "I'm Fluffles! I'm a digimon! I'm a metalkoromon!", these were things he innately knew.
Without asking, the digimon decided that now introductions were over, it was time for the inevitable: play. He made a bounce and attempted to land on Felix's head. When he inevitably landed in the grass, he felt frustrated with all the pent up energy and began to cry. And then something strange happened.
He felt himself dissipate. And then the inverse. It was a tingly feeling. "I'm Kapurimon, now!", he exclaimed, happily. He attempted to bounce on Felix's head again, now a dangerously bigger, squishfully heavier digimon.

DODOMON - FRESH - A small egg shook slightly, its pale shell slowly cracking and breaking open to release what could only be described as a small blob of fur. Yawning, she experimentally opened a single eye and gazed around at the surroundings, vision blurry. Her mind was a hive of white noise and whirring, and as the code settled into place, she awoke, suddenly snapping into an attentive state. Attempting to take a step forward with nonexistent feet, she tumbled forward and fell into a puddle, letting out a squeak of surprise as the cold water chilled her skin. Bouncing back, she sat quietly, processing what had happened. And as soon as that one program finished and granted her 'embarrassment,' she felt her face grow hot, hoping no one had seen what a fool she had just been. Eyes clouding over slightly, she accessed the files of 'identity,' hoping to understand what she was. Images and sounds poured through her mind, and she shut her eyes completely in order to avoid sensory overload. Dodomon, Fresh, Digimon Rin, Fight, Write DreamAnd in those words, she found herself. Rin, a Dodomon, and a Digimon born here... she supposed it could have been inspired by the tinkling sounds of a bell that she vaguely remembered, from some unknown place, that ring. Looking around her, she saw many other Digimon; most were about her size, but some were bigger, and had actual limbs. She quite envied them at the moment, as she had no wings or paws or tail like they did. Looking at that one word, 'fight,' that was loaded in her mind, she knew she had to. If she ever wanted to become strong, she must 'fight,' and she must 'write' the tales of her battles. Somehow, she doubted this was possible, yet that desire burned in her data and it almost felt impossible to quench the thirst of this 'dream.' Shaking out her fur, she cautiously began to move forward again, slowly making progress with the help of multiple small hops towards a spot of shade in the distance. Creating that spot was a tree, and she knew that she would be grateful once she reached it. She quickly grew weary, and wondered tiredly if rolling would be a better option after all until she evolved. Growling to herself, she bared her teeth, slightly pleased as the fangs showed themselves. She at least had some form of defense in this pathetic body, but it was definitely a bit humiliating to be in such a dusty sphere of fur and data. A blue flashed in her eyes again, and she looked at the sky. The sky almost mirrored that blue, and she allowed a faint smile to flash on her face. Blue... she would remember that she liked it. Blue... was good.
