While we are a stat-based roleplay, members don't work with numbers or equations when battling.
Most fighting is pretty simple, the two members decide amongst themselves who will win and play it out. But in the case where both members want to win, we have the battle system. In other words, using the system is optional.

Fleeing At any time, the digimon with the higher speed can run away and end the battle. In the case of a flying digimon fighting a non-flying digimon, the flyer can flee at any time to end the battle.
Fighting When digimon fight, they fight using one of four stats: Speed, Strength, Toughness, or Tactics. Each stat corresponds to fighting in that general style. Once both digimon have decided which stat they are using, notify the mods, and they will reply with who will win by comparing their stats. If digivolutions happen, so do recomparisons. After that, it's up to the players to roleplay out the rest of fight as they see fit, keeping in mind the fight's final determination. Both players need to agree when the fight is over. Digimon can change which stat they are using mid-fight, although it is always best to fight using the highest stat. Remember that in the digital world, digimon are reborn as eggs, so dying never means losing your character. Ties If there's a tie, the higher digivolved digimon will win. Otherwise the digimon with the type advantage will win (ex: vaccine beats virus).
Group Fights If the fight isn't a one versus one, it's considered a group fight. Fighting proceeds the same way, except that each side's stats are added. If there is a tie, type advantages only apply if one digimon is specifically fighting another digimon.

Strength Strength is your raw physical power, relying on your muscles. It's also relying on raw energy-based attacks. Examples: Roleplay Example: Speed Speed is a fighting style that relies on nimbleness in reaction speed, reflexes, and perhaps a little bit of instinct. Punching your opponent quickly isn't using the speed stat to fight. Examples: Roleplay Example: Toughness Toughness is how much you can take before you collapse. It's a combination of stamina and fortitude. Toughness is less useful as a stand alone stat and better as a support stat. Examples: Roleplay Example: Tactics This is skill, and the ability to strategize. This is both esoteric and limited, but as a general rule is most useful for humanoid digimon.
