Chase

PERSONALITY

Chase is curious, greedy, and driven: when they don't understand something, they try to shed light on it; when they find something they want, they try to take it; when something they want is beyond their grasp, they pursue it above all else. Any that get in their way are treated with the utmost contempt.

Their single-minded behavior can make them act callously toward other Digimon, but the intent is rarely malicious. They simply lack patience for anything not within their narrow scope of interest. Over time, as the world stops presenting so many new things for them to obsess over, this behavior may fade--or it may turn more resolutely toward more difficult prizes.

HISTORY

The first thing Chase saw was light.

The first thing Chase felt was want.

PZEW. The little MetalKoromon rocketed out of the field like an extremely slow, fat, earth-bound bullet. Freshly hatched Digimon were rudely knocked aside as Chase sped on, refusing to deviate from the straightest, shortest path to their target.

It's not that they were afraid they'd lose sight of it; how could they miss it? But they knew it was fleeing: after all, they never come closer to catching it, no matter how long they pursued.

The field came to an end, and then so too did the village. Chase paid that no heed. All they noted was the difficulty of navigating the terrain as it grew wild and uneven. Sometimes they were even forced to change course to avoid unclimbable rocks, or to keep their target from becoming obscured by a canopy of leaves. As they journeyed, their route became ever more circuitous--and by dusk, if they had been paying attention, they would have known they were terribly, horrendously lost.

It wasn't until the darkness came that they realized their position, but by then they couldn't be bothered to care. They had lost it. No matter how hard they chased, it was always impossibly out of reach. They settled into the night, melancholy, defeated.

What a delight it was, then, when their quarry reappeared the next day.
